FO Friday... On Saturday

I actually just cast off my Sockhead Hat last night, but it still counts right?

So I've missed What I'm Reading Tuesdays and WIP Wednesdays this week because I started a new job, but I know you'll forgive me because I'll make it up this weekend!

Easter Weekend

   This weekend was Easter weekend. We dyed eggs, I made pies, and Mom and I made lunch. We dyed eggs yesterday, and when we were all done, I had some leftover dye, which I decided to use to dye some Corriedale I had.

   I'm calling this one Sulley (from Monsters Inc)

I don't have any photos of the pies I made, but I'll share the recipes I used.

For the chocolate pie, Chocolate Cream Pie II I've made this pie for every holiday for the last couple of years, I've never had a problem with the filling setting up, but this time, it was more like pudding in a crust. I'm thinking it should've been set in the fridge for a longer period.

For the coconut cream pie, Emeril Lagasee's Coconut Cream Pie My mom says she loves this pie, I've never tried it because I don't like coconut, but you should try it for yourself.

For the cherry pie I made, I used this recipe and 1 can of cherry pie filling. Pour the can of cherry pie filling into a baked 9-inch deep dish pie crust, prepare the vanilla pudding per the instructions, and pour over the cherries. Chill in fridge at least 3 hours before serving. I'm allergic to cherries, but my PawPaw, who I made this for, said it was really good. He took the whole pie home.

Overdue Vacation Post

   Earlier this month, my family and I took a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. We had a lot of fun, swimming with dolphins, shopping, eating anything we wanted, and a  ton more!

   Before we actually got on the ship, though, we spent two days enjoying Galveston Island. My brothers hadn't been to the island since we were all wee, little ones, so it was pretty much a new and exciting experience for them. It was really foggy and cold while we were there, mainly because of all the rain, but the ocean, as always, was wonderful!

    I ended up with so  many more seashells than this, but they got lost somewhere on the way home.

   The water was frigid! Honestly, my toes eventually went numb!

   We ate at Rainforest Café for the first time, the food was good, but I'm not a fan of mechanical gorillas. The fish were beautiful though.

   They had something called a Dr. Suess breakfast on the ship on the last sea day, it was really cute!

   All in all, it was a great vacation, but trust me when I say, I was extremely  glad to come home. 

What I'm Reading Tuesday

This week, I have finished three books, and started another. During vacation, I always get a lot of reading done.

I finished...

The Host by Stephanie Meyer

I really didn't enjoy this book so much. Not many emotions were portrayed through the characters, nothing amazing ever happened, and I only finished it to see if Melanie would get her body back.

Fairest by Marissa Meyer

This book, on the other hand, was pretty good, it explains more of why Levana is who she is. Even though she's twisted and somewhat heartless, it was nice to read about what really happened to make her so awful.

And Spells & Stitches by Barbara Bretton

Spells and Stitches, to me, was an easy read. I enjoyed the knitting party of it, but also the sorcery. Being that this is the 4th book in the series, I didn't know the backstory on any of the characters, but it was still pretty easy to follow and understand who everyone was.

The book I started is Frozen (or Skinned, the newer version of it) by Robin Wasserman

So far, it's pretty interesting. Lia Khan was a normal teenager until she got into a should-have-been fatal car accident. Then after a month, her parents opted to put her into what is basically a robot body. Her brain isn't even a brain, its just a mechanical replica of her human brain.
As of right now, I'm just at the part where she's returned home and her friends and family are getting to see the "New" her.

What I'm Reading Tuesday

This week, I'm reading a few books. I am listening to The Host by Stephanie Meyer on audiobook. I am really not enjoying it. I only have an hour left, and I just want to know what happens between Melanie and Wanda.

   I'm still reading Spells and Stitches by Barbara Bretton, but I haven't gotten any further than I was last week.

   I'm also going to listen to/read Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor on the way down to Galveston for our cruise.

I plan on reading other books, such as Frozen by Robin Wasserman,
