Ready for the New Year!

Well, 2013 is almost over and I've been thinking about what I would like my new year's resolutions to be. I've thought long and hard and  have come up with some knitting and non-knitting resolutions, or goals if you will.

  1. Knit at least 2 sweaters/cardigans for myself.
This goal will probably consist of frogging my Cable Hugger because the fit I got was way too loose. Yes, I am almost completely finished with it, only a cable band, collar and a sleeve away, but it's a fitted garment that just isn't fitted.

   2. Spin for socks.

I have heard that handspun hand knit socks are even more amazing than just hand knit socks, so I'd like to try it out for myself.

   3. Spin for a sweater.

I know, it's a big goal. But I have about 10 oz of Corriedale wool that I have been trying to find something to spin it for. White isn't usually a color that I would wear, due to me being attracted to messes, but I'm sure I can dye it.

Nothing but Socks!

This week has been mainly about socks for me, but not only have I been working  the on them, I've finished some! Yes, more than one pair!
I finished two of my three brothers' socks. A men's size US7 sock and a boys size 5. Both in Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! Sport "Green Camo Multi" on size 3 needles.

These pooled perfectly! Aside from the cuffs, they're practically identical!

I've started my youngest brothers socks in red heart super saver "soft navy" they're mainly an experiment because he is so hard on his socks. He tried on the first sock and he loves it, so that's a good thing.

The catch is, all of them have tried their socks on, but none of them know that they are for them for Christmas!
I've been having lots of fun with my 12 days of Christmas package from Jordan at inittokawalifyit.blogspot.com. I did the reindeer  yesterday and got another one today! A super cute doggy! I used to cross stitch quiet a bit, but haven't in about 4+ years! I honestly think I may have picked up another hobby! It all came together so quickly and it was very relaxing! I might pick up some cross stitch supplies next time I go to Michaels or JoAnn!

So basically, I have been crafting like crazy this past week! Look forward to more progress these next few weeks!

12 Days of Christmas and 2 Pairs of Socks

I've definitely gotten some knitting progress done this week, and I plan to get lots more done before Christmas. But first, speaking of Christmas, I want to share with you a package I got in the mail last Thursday! I won a 12 days of Christmas giveaway over on Jordan of In it to Kawalify it's blog! Thursday was the 12th, so I got to open a gift as soon as I got it! Which was little jingle bells, as you can see in the photo.

Since I'm Trying to Get Things Off of my Needles....

So, I have been trying to clear off my needles lately so that I can start some more projects. Some things got frogged, or frogged and are being reknit, or even continuing on with old projects. First I'll show you the progress on my Caffe Macchiato socks. These are knit on size 1(2.25mm) needles in Araucania Nuble colorway number 1. I finished the foot of the first sock, and I put it on wast yarn (thread) so that I can work the foot of the second before I start the legs.
I'm sure you're wondering why I do this, right? Well, to be honest, I could just weigh out two equal balls of yarn. Except for the fact that I don't have batteries in my kitchen scale! So I just knit the feet first. I also might have to get another skein of this yarn.. project page

WIP Wednesday

So technically, Wednesday has just begun here in Texas, it's 12:11AM as I'm writing this, but I'm up so I might as well write up my post while I'm thinking about it! I've really only worked on one project this week, two if you count the one I just cast on half an hour ago. So there's not much to show, but I do have other things to talk about! Of course, this is mainly a knitting blog, so knitting first.

I worked a little bit on Cable Hugger and on Mom's scarf, but an inch or so isn't really worth showing.

These are the Caffe Macchiato socks by Marian Moldan in Araucania Nuble colorway number 1 on size 1(2.25mm) needles. project page The first photo is of the second toe that I started today, the second photo is a photo I took yesterday... can you tell how much progress was made? The first sock is on waste thread so that after I finish the foot of the second sock, I can make 100% sure that the legs will be the same length. (I really need to get batteries for my kitchen scale...) The toe looks really pointy doesn't it? Well, I cast on 20 st for the toe like I always do, but this particular sock toe turned out super pointy.
