First Order!!

I am proud to say, I have received my first order! One rainbow infinity scarf and one rainbow slouchy hat! Hopefully I will get them done around the end of the week! I am so excited, both for me, and the lucky consumer! Bringing out my knitting needles first thing in the morning!

FO Friday

I never exactly posted about my FOs this week. Which I would like to do!

First off, Cotton Candy Bolero. Shell stitching, teen small, 100% acrylic yarn. Available on Etsy for $15.00.

Second, Fingerless gloves. One size fits most, shell stitching, 100% acrylic yarn. Available on Etsy for $5.00.

Keychain chapstick cozy. 2mm long, 100% acrylic yarn. Available on Etsy for $1.00.

An Almost FO

So the slouchy hat is up an coming! I have 28 full rows and 7 decrease rows left! Next, I am going to make Le Weekend Shawlette out of my SweetGeorgia Yarns Tough Love Sock in Touramline! I can't wait!

I really think that this week has been great! Monday was coupon day, Tuesday I learned to spin on a drop spindle, Wednesday was couponing, and last night was the spring dance! I had so much fun! Friends, dancing, music, it was all amazing! Today, Molly, the puppy, had to get shots. :( Poor baby. Tomorrow, I have to go to my dads. Fun right? Not. But then, I get to go to Hobby Lobby and look through yarns, laces, needles, and pick up a few pull off patterns! :) Oh! I forgot to say, my wonderful boyfriend got me the most gorgeous and I will say, my most favorite, flowers of all time! Rainbow Daisies! They're only around in the springtime! I'm so thankful to have the most amazing boyfriend that I have!

Well, off to finish the slouchy hat and get it up on Etsy!

This Week is a Busy Week

This week, thus far, has been awfully busy. On Monday, we couponed all day, 4 stores, 2 towns. Yesterday we had Co-op and I learned how to spin wool into yarn, thanks to Mrs. Stacey! It is so amazing and easy! It's much better and softer than acrylic yarn! I can't wait to start buying fibers, spinning them, then selling 100% wool items! Today, more couponing. Tomorrow, Library at 9am for CHE and the Spring Dance at 6:30pm! Can't wait!

Here are some pictures of the wool that I handspun. I am still a beginner, but I think my best is the bottom one. It's Jacob wool and a brown and white, and really, really soft! I am using a drop spindle and am loving it! Mrs. Stacey from co-op dyed all of it, go check out her Etsy shop, BrazenStitchery!

Now, I am going to work on my mom's Snowflake's Throw that I haven't worked on in forever :( I really am looking forward to seeing it come together! I will be working on her throw while I'm waiting for my ice cream sundae :)

Making Monday

This making Monday started off with blue chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, and biscuits. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures. Although, dinner was Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo with garlic bread, and Easter themed sugar cookies for dessert! I did get pictures of that! It was very, very delicious!

Late to Bed, Early to Rise

Here I am, it's 7:30 am, I've been up since 6:20 am after going to bed at 2. I'm working on a slouchy hat, while miss Molly sleeps, having precious little doggy dreams. Whatever do dogs dream about? Have you ever really thought about it? Food? Chew toys? Boy/girl doggy mates? For my dog, I think she dreams about food. All she does in between her wet puppy food meals is eat crumbs off the kitchen floor while we're sweeping or chew on paper she found in an alternate universe. Last night, I caught her carrying my makeup bag through the house! The thing is bigger than she is! It was so very cute though. As I have been up and around this morning, I have started laundry, watched 2 episodes of Big Bang Theory and am now watching Duck Dynasty. I am the only one up, so things are quiet and relaxing!

For the kitty update, Abby is sitting here with me as I knit. Probably to watch the yarn that she yearns for. I feel bad for her because before her surgeries, she would play with all my yarn as I knit/crochet. Now, she can't until she heals because it'll hurt her poor, now declawed, paws. As we were examining her cut on her stomach from her spaying, we saw that she had opened it again. Hopefully it'll heal soon, paws included, and we won't have to worry about her in pain or having to watch her every move.

I Guess You Could Call Me a Night Owl

Here it is, almost 2 AM here in Texas and I'm starting a new project! I finished 1 1/2 projects today, I say that because I am still working on one fingerless glove. I finished one glove, and I finished the bolero. Now I am starting a slouchy hat in Cherry Red. I cast on, on my size 7 circulars, and have been knitting away for about 45 minutes now. Since receiving my circular needle interchangeable set, I have acquired some new knitting skills. I have learned to do the following, today...

  • sk2p
  • ssk
  • knit in the round
  • p1tbl
  • k1tbl
Excuse my organization obsessions, please! :D I knew that with knitting it was going to be more challenging than crocheting because...

  • there are 2 needles, instead of 1 hook
  • there are tons, and tons more stitches to learn
  • you have to pay more attention
  • you have to have more patience
The patience part I had to work on today, there was just no way that I could cast on another 351 stitches for that darn shawl. I think that pattern will be sitting in my pattern notebook for awhile, until I can master, or as close as mastering as I can get to, knitting. It is a lot of stitches and I don't think that, with the limited amount of stitches I know, and the amount of learning I am doing as I go along through each and every pattern I am knitting, that I can tackle that big of a project yet.

I am still trying to figure out what I want to knit with my SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock, because i know that you don't just have to knit socks with it! It's super soft and I want whatever I knit with it to turn out muy perfecto! Well, goodnight everyone! Going to knit a while more before bed!

Sorry, Lila, You're Being Frogged!

I have just about had it with Lila. So it is being frogged. Just until I can regain the patience to cast on for a fourth time. Had to rip it out again today, twice. I am going to have to find a simpler shawl. I really wanted to do that one too, it was so beautiful! Well time to hit Rav and get searching.

Finished!

I am kicking myself for not finishing this on Monday when I only had maybe 5 rows left! It turned out really cute, but small. It is now listed on my Etsy shop as US Small- Teen Girls for $15.00. Listed 14 more Knotted Headbands, in each color I have, each only $5.00. Hand Knit Infinity Scarf is only $15.00 also! I am really proud of myself for finishing this bolero and now going to pull out my Lila Shawl and start working on it!

Used the digital camera for this picture so that it wouldn't be blurry due to my phone's camera.

Lila, My First Shawl

Last night I cast on Lila, a gorgeous, free, shawl pattern I found on Ravelry.com. Got to about row 2, it took a long time considering I cast on 351 stitches. Then this morning, I was reading through the pattern and realized I had overlooked the "ssk" before row 1... the first stitch and I missed it! How could that even happen?! Well it did, so this morning I ripped everything out and cast on 351 stitches again, placing stitch markers every 50 stitches to make sure I didn't lose count. Now, 11 hours later, I am almost done with row 4. I'm sure for you long time knitters out there, that's probably way too long to get to row 4, but I will say, it takes a long time! It's turning out very cute though! I thought I just might fill you in on my first shawl I'm knitting :) Now to "Keep calm and knit on" and listen to my poor puppy have bad dreams. This will be my last post for today, so goodnight all and I will be posting again tomorrow!

My, Oh My

I have really been falling down on my Making Monday, WIP Wednesday, and FO Fridays.... Well since it's Friday, I will say, there are no FOs this week, there are some close one's, which will hopefully be done this weekend, or early next week. The WIPs I have going are Snowflakes Throw, Cotton Candy, another Blues Infinity Scarf, and Lila Shawl :) They are all beautiful! My new interchangeable needles are AMAZING! I love them! So much more than my straights!

This weekend, I plan to finish Cotton Candy, put it on Etsy and get my Lila Shawl going further and further! If the weather here in Texas keeps being bipolar, yesterday it was hot, today it is 48 F, I won't get to see my aunt and cousin in Midlothian. If all is well, then we'll be at the park. But, there's just no changing the weather here in Texas.

Packages Have Come :)

Yesterday, I got 2 of my packages :) One from a sweet lady that sent me interchangeable knitting needles and super GGH Soft Kid in Soft Pink and Dark Horse Wink in Pink :) And the other from one of the giveaways that I won :) Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock Yarn in Tourmaline, Idaho Huckleberry Jam, and 6 gorgeous handmade stitch markers from The Bead Knitter :)

Now just waiting on my Moonshine yarn to come in!!!

Designing, My Obsession, and Poisoned Cookies

Today, I decided to make some alterations to my design, put white trim around the edge and make the body blue. The colors together make me think of my dear boyfriend, Steven, every time I pick it up to work on it. I'm not going to reveal what I'm designing but I will say, for you crocheters out there, this is a crochet design! It's turning out beautifully and I can't wait to get it graded, edited, and tested, then finally, self published! For the knitters out there, once I get the set of interchangeable's that a sweet lady is sending me, I will try my hardest to design a knit pattern!

Yes, you read the title right, my obsession is... Yogurt pretzels! My whole family is obsessed with these! Whether its chocolate, sprinkles, striped, flavored, or just plain yogurt, we will devour them within a small amount of time! They're just so.... Heavenly! It's definitely a sweet treat sent from the Lord above! Thank you God! LOL But yes, they are an obsession of mine and my family's.

Tonight, I will be trying to bake a cake from scratch. I have never done it before, but I thought that I might try! On Monday (forgot to post my Making Monday) I made Oreo Cheesecake Cookies. A recipe found on Pinterest. I can say they were terrible! I thought that combining Oreo's and  Cheesecake together would be superbly delectable, but they were horrible! The whole family went to bed with a massive stomach ache. Even I, who made them and suggested them, didn't even take a second bite. Molly, our dog, ran away when she sniffed them! My poor dog, and family! I poisoned them! No not really, it just felt like it!

Also on Monday, the cat was successfully de-clawed and spayed. She is recovering well and can get up and move around a little bit, but not for long or going very far. She is eating and graiciously welcomed us to give her a few of her favorite treats today. I can also gladly say she is a lot nicer so far! I do love her and hope she gets better soon!

Not Such a Long Day After All!

I thought today would be a long day.. didn't happen after all. The cat got dropped at the vet, we headed out of town for the dentist and spent less than an hour there! I did, although get over half of the last sleeve done in the car ride there! I can't wait 'til it's done! I really am looking forward to seeing what it looks like!

Heading home, the people that live behind our apartment, had sheared there many, many sheep. I have always thought about just hopping over the fence at night and shearing their sheeps' lovely wool! Today, I am thinking about knocking on their door and saying, "I am a avid crocheter and knitter, can I have some of your wool?" LOL! I don't have the courage to do it, but I really think it would be wondrous to spin my own 100% wool yarn to knit/crochet with. Hopefully, maybe, when we move to Missouri, my mom will let me get a, maybe 2, sheep. I would probably have to save up money though. Feeding animals is expensive. Feeding, shearing, grooming. It seems like a lot of work, but it would be highly worth it! Then I would get to have yarn all the time, in any color I would like! Oh, the dreams, I can dream and dream about the loads and loads of yarn I may one day have! All hand dyed, hand spun, and from my precious little sheepies!

Enough of dreamland, time for reality, I need to go get my Cotton Candy Cardigan finished! I am almost done! I will be starting another project probably later tonight, along with working on Mamma's Snowflake Throw!

Crochet Tonight, No Time Tomorrow

I have finished the first sleeve and started on the second on my Cotton Candy Cardigan today. It's turning out really well! I can't wait! That would be my 4th FO this week! I need to cram all the crocheting in that I can tonight because tomorrow, there will just not be time. Abby (cat) has to be at the vet by 7:30AM and me, and my brothers have to be at the dentist by 9. Then we will probably be couponing a lot the rest of the day. I will probably crochet or knit while I'm in the waiting room at the dentist's office since we will probably be there a while considering there are 4 of us!

I want to thank Bead Knitter's random number generator for picking lucky number 6! :) I will be waiting, enthusiastically for my prizes also while waiting for my other prize from Juniper Moon Farm :)

Knitting Rampage

Lately, I have been on a knitting rampage. Looking at knit patterns, searching for cheapest sets of needles, learning new knitting techniques, etc, etc. I don't exactly know why, but I think it's because I finished my first knitted project and felt a major sense of accomplishment, because I mastered a new thing in life. Sadly, I have set aside my crochet projects, which I really need to get back out. Actually, last night, I was working on my Cotton Candy Cardigan and I just couldn't wrap my mind around the concept. I just kept forgetting what I was doing and was crocheting really slow... I really need to get into crochet this week and just let the magic happen, just let the yarn on my hook magically piece itself together.

Well I'm off to crochet! Wish me happy hooking :)

FO Friday

I have successfully finished my Blues Infinity Scarf in Petal Pink! I am so excited! Now I am working on my Cotton Candy Cardigan in Lavender.
Also, I now have an Etsy shop, if you click shop above in the tabs you can see it :) Not much on it right now, but there WILL be much much more to come!

Progress, Progress, Progress!!!

Woohoo! As of today, I am 5" away from finishing my Blues Infinity Scarf, halfway done with my Cotton Candy Cardigan, and making wonderful progress on my designing and on my Snowflakes Throw! Woohoo!!!! I love when I see progress in my projects! I cannot wait until I get them all done so I can start new ones! First on my list is a set of big sis-little sis infinity scarves in Bon Bon Print, an infinity scarf in Black for my aunt and to finish my mom's Snowflakes Throw!! I have realized that with my projects, I get so much more done on road trips than I do just sitting at home, blogging and having my ravelry distractions! I do love all of those things, but when I'm stuck in a car for 3+ hours and only brought my projects to work on, I can easily get them done in a short amount of time and even start another one. Or two!

Tomorrow, I'm going to my dad's. Celebrating Jayden's birthday over there for that side of the family. Get to see my sister, grandma, aunt, and baby cousin Dylan. Afterwards, I am going to head to Hobby Lobby for some cotton and lace yarn! And possibly some more knitting needles! Hopefully I can get paid out today from R.M.V and then on Tuesday for Slice The Pie! Then I can get even more yarn, hehe! :)

Designing, Harder Than I Thought...

So last night, I brought out my designing again. I had gotten confuzzled and frustrated on what I wanted to design and how I wanted it to look. I got The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Patterns and started looking through all of the beautiful patterns. First I decided on #15, a slanted look of double crochets that form rhombus' between them, but I just couldn't get my stitches to look right, obviously.. It just looks like rectangles between stitches. Was I supposed to crochet tighter or something? I used a H hook!!
I eventually decided on using a different stitch pattern, I fell in love with this gorgeous pattern. #88, it's a simple shell pattern with a slight twist. It starts to look even more gorgeous as I am crocheting it on my bolero/shrug. I think that it will have a fit body and fit sleeves up to about the elbow, then start adding some increases to make the sleeves fuller at the bottom. If that doesn't work, then it's straight sleeves for me. I am loving designing my own pattern and can't wait 'til I see the finished pattern on a person, published online and for many people to use!

Thinking about a CAL or a KAL

I want to get a CAL or a KAL going for you blog readers out there. I would like your input, CAL or KAL? Do you think it should be a mystery or not since it's my first. Let me know what you think so that I can get something ready! I want to start doing a monthly/bimonthly CAL or KAL probably alternating each.

Divine Dresses, A Dog Hungry Cat and DC Cupcakes

My day started around 10 AM today. Early for me, late for others. Yes, being homeschooled has its perks! Around noon, Miracle came over and we hung out for a while then we headed to Brides & Beyond to get my prom dress altered. I can't wait until I can wear it for prom!! Then we went couponing with my mom and brothers. (Couponing Blog Address) Miracle went home and from there, I have been crocheting. Holding my baby fuzzy ball Molly Tamale, as I now call her, while I do so. :) Yea, she's just chillin. ;)
My cat, Abby, although doesn't exactly know what to do now that "another species" has invaded her home. She has been looking at her and studying her, but only hisses or tries to attack. She has been better today, no attacking and sat almost beside her. Abby on one side of Steven, Molly on the other. Hopefully when Abby gets declawed, things should start going smoother between the two.
Now, I'm going to finish my episode of DC Cupcakes so I can find out what gender Katherine's baby is, and work on my Cotton Candy Cardigan and maybe move on to finishing my Blues Infinity Scarf soon :)

Sleeping on Steven :)

Making Monday

For this week's Making Monday, I made M&M Cookies with the colorful spring M&Ms. (except for the purple ones, those are being collected for prom) They are the BEST cookies ever! I used the Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe that I always use. Unfortunately, I couldn't find those dear semi-sweet chocolate chips to save my life today! My mom, my boyfriend, and I all looked through every pantry space, and every cabinet in the kitchen and couldn't find them. Oh well, the M&Ms were put to good use!

For the chrochet/knitting portion of Making Monday, my Cotton Candy Cardigan is coming along very well. I finished the back and just started on the first sleeve. I can say, I might just have to keep the FO for this project for myself to wear!!

FOs and my newest WIP

Well I've decided to start some easy and simple accessories for now. Since the RE conference is in August, I decided I should probably start making things now! So far, I've finished 2 Knotted Headbands, (Lavender and Amethyst) and am working on a Cotton Candy Cardigan in Lavender. I also have the Blues Infinity Scarf in Petal Pink as a WIP for the conference too.

Birthdays and Puppies

First of all, I want to say happy birthday to my not so little anymore, brother, Jayden. He turned 10 today! The big 1-0, finally hitting the double digits! We ate cake, and watched Wreck-it-Ralph. He was a happy boy when he got that movie because every day, every time the commercial came on, he said "I want Wreck-it-Ralph for my birthday!"

I also want to welcome our newest addition to the family, Molly! She's a toy shih-poo and a little over 8 weeks old. :)

I would like to add, my mom has a couponing blog that tells about the deals that she finds and how she does it all! Here is the -> Link

Early Rising

Today, the morning started early. At 7:30 AM I had to get up and ready for Library Day for homeschoolers (every Thursday, we go occasionally) because the newspaper was coming to interview homeschoolers about the Johnson County Homeschool Prom that my mom is over and about homeschooling in general. The questions that they asked were all fairly simple, "What are you looking forward to most about the prom?" "Do you enjoy homeschooling?" "Some of you started out in public school, what was the change to homeschooling like?" "What are the pros and cons about homeschooling?" Very simple. I am look forward to wearing my dress the most because it is absolutely gorgeous! I love homeschooling, it's the best thing that ever happened to me, education-wise. Public school was.. well... it sucked. Yea I had good friends and all, but It just wasn't for me. Homeschooling, you can do your schoolwork in pajamas, sleep til noon, do schoolwork, and still get done with all subjects before public school is even out! Yes I love homeschooling!

After that, 2 of my brothers went to the rec center with my boyfriend while me, mom, and Joshua (one of my brothers) went couponing. We went to Wal-Mart and got...

19 more boxes of 18ct. U by Kotex pantyliners @ $1.24ea with a $2.00 off coupon = profit $0.76 a box
4 Almay 15ct makeup remover rounds @ 1.14ea with a "$5.00 off any 2 Almay cosmetics" coupon = profit $1.36ea

All together Wal-Mart PAID my mom $19.88.

A Budding Designer... Yes siree!

I have begun my journey to becoming a crochet designer! I want to thanks all of the sweet ladies on Ravelry.com for advice and help and I will definitely be working towards my goal!! Got to start my gauge swatches and start taking notes now!!

Little knit-ster..

So today I was at my dad's, working on my knitting, and my little sister, Piper (3) was watching me. She says "Jordy, what are you making?"
Of course, I said, "Knitting,"
"What are you knitting?"
" A scarf,"
 "Can you make me something?"
"Sure Piper, what would you like?"
"The scarf that you knitting..."
"How about I make you a prettier one? In purple, Pink, and Blue? Would that be okay since this one will be too big?"
"Yes  yes yes!!"
So my newest WIP since I have many going already, will be another Infinity Scarf but this time in RHSS BonBon Print for my little sister :)

FO Friday

This isn't a recent FO, well I finished it about 3 weeks ago so it could be considered recent. It is the Sweet Baby Hoodie by Bernat and it was the 24 months pattern. I made it for my baby cousin, Dylan :) I used Red Heart Super Saver in Paddy Green and RHSS in Soft Navy.

This is a hook case I made a few months back to hold the few "important" hooks I had at the time. I used THIS tutorial. It is the cutest case and can be made in any color(s) you choose! I used RHSS in Petal Pink and RHSS in Soft White.

This is a blanket I made for my boyfriend. This was my first FO after I started back crocheting. I improvised this pattern with just triple crochets (and some tc edging.) I used RHSS in Soft White and RHSS Soft Navy.

Knit-tastic Day

Yay! I have accomplished my goal of learning to knit! I am currently knitting the Blues Infinity Scarf but in Red Heart Super Saver in Petal Pink! <3 It's turning out beautifully! I have 10 inches down and only 44" to go! I can't wait!

On a side note, I went to a North Texas Home-schooled/Unschooled Teens Get together today and had a good time. there were a lot of people there that are a lot like me! They're all "free-spirited" and aren't afraid of colorful hair ! I finally wasn't the only one there with colored hair! Hope I get to hang out with them again before the R.E. (Rethinking Everything) Convention which is kind of like Life Rocks Conferences.

I'm going to go on with my knitting and probably look up some more knitting patterns on Ravelry. Have a great day everyone!
