June-July KAL - Starts Tomorrow!

The next KAL starts tomorrow! The poll results that most people wanted a choice of which KAL to do, so there are 2 separate threads.

This is the FO thread for those of you who want to do a garment (ie: shirt, top, cardigan, pullover etc.) Please tag all garment projects olftkgarment.  This is the FO thread for those of you who want to do a shawl. Please tag all shawl projects olftkshawl. Show off the yarn you're going to use and the pattern you chose IN THE CHAT THREADS :) Feel free to enter for both! Enter as many projects as you like, please only enter projects completed during the time of the KAL. FOs need to be put into the actual threads.
At the end of the KAL, I will lock both KAL threads and will draw 2 winners (via random number generator) from each thread for a 50% your order coupon from my shop. I will be adding new items to the shop later, so that there will be more of a choice.

So come and join us! I would love to knit with you! :)

WIP Wednesday and Just a Bit More

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I have lots to share! Last week, I was supposed to have finished my Garden View Shawlette.... Sadly enough, I ran out of yarn on the 5th leaf. I only had 1 1/2 leaves left! Luckily, the gorgeous handspun/hand dyed yarn was created by a friend and I am going to get more this Saturday and of course finish the dear shawlette.
I have been working hard on my Leaf Evolution Mystery Shawl KAL, it's turning out beautifully! I am using Sweet Georgia fingering weight in the colorway Tourmaline. In case you're wondering, the book I am reading while I knit is Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt. A great book so far, I recommend it!

Handspun Galore!

These last few days, I have been spinning a lot of yarn. I finally, today took some pictures of some of them in the natural light. I named it Mixed Berry. Various yardages, various weights, all mini skeins between 6-23 yds.

FO Friday

I have 2 FOs this week, but I am only going to show a picture of one. They are both beanies, but for onr, I haven't gotten a picture taken yet, for two, I think I am going to re-knit it sooner or later.

The first is my uncle Jack's birthday present. It's a sort of Dallas Cowboy's beanie, I improvised the look of the star, with Yoda ears. Yes, Yoda ears, which is what he wanted. Please excuse any ends that aren't woven in in this picture, they are woven in now though.

WIP Wednesday

Knitting Progress
Two WIPs this week, Garden View Shawlette which I should be a lot further on. I will be working on it a lot over the next few days, hopefully finishing off the last 4.5 leafs. I've finally got to the point where I can just knit and I know the pattern, it's mindless really once you get it down. I watch TV and work on this, I watch my Podcasts, and I might even work out and knit this one!

Another Picture-Full Day

Today, we looked out in the pots on our porch and we have 3 strawberries growing, one is becoming red and the others have just "blossomed." One of our tomato plants have a pretty good sized green tomato on it, and our lettuce plant has sprouted in two places! I honestly think that having a garden is exciting because everyday that you go out there, you have the thought "Ooh, I wonder what is sprouting today!" or "I wonder if that's fully grown yet!" I think that I like watering the plants most though, it's quiet relaxing!

Picture Time!

Found a cord that works for my phone so now I can show you the picture of the sheep behind our apartment! I don't know what kind of sheep they are, but they are adorable! There are 2 pregnant sheep, way pregnant, which means soon, there will be some baby lambs back there too! It looks like some of the sheep have been sheared, but from what it looks like, the wool has just fallen off. I have heard that you should only shear a sheep once a year, but my thought is that they would get hot and sweaty during the summer. I would shear my sheep whenever I see that they're getting too fluffy or when I need me some fiber. ;) The sheep just look so soft and cuddly, I just want to hug one! :D

I'm in a Shawl Craze!

So all day yesterday, and all day today, I've been downloading shawl patterns! I am in love with shawls!! So lacy, and beautiful! I eventually want to have a ton of shawls knit and also design some of my own. I just think they're so, so gorgeous! Any one else agree? Oh, I went through today and tagged all of my favorites on ravelry and found out that I have 19 shawls Favorited and I am still looking!!

Multicolored Star Beanie Pattern and I Dream of Sheepies

Later on, my pattern for a Multicolored Star Beanie will be needing testers. I am still writing it up and working on the grading, thanks to my math wiz side. But... if you are interested in being a tester, please PM me on ravelry ( jordyndunaway ) The pattern is knitted, all other info such as materials and yarn will be shown in the pattern. Hopefully, the pattern will be rough drafted and ready for testing in a week or two.

WIP Wednesday and My Amazing Night

This week, I am working on 3 things.

1) Steven's 1 yr. anniversary gift, an OKC Thunder beanie. I started with one pattern, but decide to take it simple because the 5 color fair isle knitting/intarsia was just killing me. The basketball in the background was an oval-ish square shape and you couldn't see the lettering very well. So I put in a lifeline at the end of the 2x2 ribbing and ripped back. I am now doing a blue beanie with the words like this.

100% Home Grown

So today, we planted a semi-garden on our back patio. It has strawberries, tomatoes, and lettuce. My mom want's to add more things like more veggies and herbs. And when we move, we're going to have a big, lots of plants garden!

(From left to right) Small strawberry plant, 1 tomato plant, 5 strawberry plants, lettuce, and there's another tomato plant that got cut off beside the lettuce.

I am almost done with Uncle Jack's hat, it's looking more like I want it to now, hopefully, Steven's turns out equally as nice or nicer! Here's what it looks like so far.

Just a Monday to Me

So it is Monday, it's been a good day too. I've been working a lot on my WIP's the last few days. First and foremost that I have been working on is my Uncle Jack's birthday hat. I'm over 50% done and it's looking really, really good!
I've started another hat of the same sort, as a surprise for mine and my boyfriend's one year anniversary! I have to have it done by Wednesday and I have just started the actual picture part of the beanie, but I am determined to finish it! Even if I have to pull an all-nighter! His hat won't be Dallas Cowboys, but will be Oklahoma City Thunder (Basketball team.) Shhh... he doesn't know!
I am also working on the KAL I am hosting, the Garden View Shawlette Pattern. I am having lots of fun with it and am enjoying the interactions that I get to have with the others in my KAL group!
Not only am I hosting a KAL, I'm participating in the Leaf Evolution MKAL hosted by Tetiana Otruta. Sadly, we only get hints every Monday, and I've already worked all of the rows for clue #1! I might have to participate in more KALs and MKALs, after I finish what I am already working on anyway.

Here is a picture of the Dallas Cowboys hat thus far.

A Stash Acquisition and a WIP

So, I have been finding gorgeous cardigan/sweater patterns and they all use DPN (Double Pointed Needles) so on mine and my Mom's trip to Hobby Lobby today, I picked some up! 2 sets, one size of size 4s and a set of size 1s. I haven't tried them out yet but I can't wait to!! Here are some pictures...

Yes, I'm a Night Owl, for a Reason

Here it is, 2 A.M, and I'm watching the Stockinette Zombies podcast and working on the fair isle knitting hat for my uncle's birthday. And.. I have to be up at 9 A.M. for my dad's house. I'm not up only because I want to be, I'm up also because teenager's brains don't "find sleep as appealing as other's." That's my summary of it anyways. I watched something one time about how teenagers minds don't get tired early as adults or children do, their minds just can't sleep that early. So that's good for me, because I hate going to bed early! I guess I should go to bed... Maybe after this episode :)

M.I.A? Not Anymore!! :)

So, I realize I haven't written for a few days after writing daily for the past few weeks. Well, I'm back now! :) I'm working on a beanie for my Uncle for his birthday, he wants it to be Dallas Cowboys, but also wants it to have Yoda ears. If you've seen Star Wars, you know what I'm talking about! The tiny green guy with huge, pointy ears. Yep, that's Yoda. My uncle is silly, but I love him! I have 3 weeks to finish it, but a simple beanie shouldn't be that hard. Tomorrow, I am going to my dad's... *sigh* Yay. *sigh* The only good part about having to go to Burleson every other Saturday is the afterward trip to Hobby Lobby. Oh, and from May 3, to May 12 all frappucinos at Starbucks are 1/2 price between 3-5 PM! Woohoo, I want to get me a Java Chip Frappucino or a Chocolatey Chip Frappucino!! :) I have also been thinking about

WIP Wednesday

I have plenty of WIPs this week, knitting related, crochet related, spinning related, and podcast related! :) My knitting WIP is the Garden View Shawlette, the KAL of course. This was last night's picture, I ripped back because I missed a stitch way back when.. I'm on about row 10-12 though, so I've made progress :)
