Work in Progress Wednesday: January 25, 2017

New Back
Most of hat was left after I ripped out.
New Front
This week has been the week of the Serenity. I had to rip out the Serenity by Joji Locatelli because it turns out what I thought was a size US 4(3.5mm) needle was actually a US 3(3.25mm). After riping out the sweater, I swatched and ended up restarting the sweater with a size US 5(3.75mm) and am back to where I was when I ripped.

I also worked on my Color Affection by Veera Valimaki some while I read when the Serenity was at the short row sections. I've only put in a few rows since the rows are so long now. but I did decide that rather than doubling sections 2 and 3 and having to bind off a gazillion stitches, I'm just going to do 1 1/2 times sections 2 and 3 and bind off half a gazillion stitches. In the photo, I am on the last stripe and I will start the short rows eventually.

And the Hermione's Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder in Knit Picks Stroll Handpainted "Gemstone" are coming along slowly but surely. I'm still getting the hand of Two-at-a-time socks so it's slow going.

The last thing I've been working on this week is spinning. I've been spinning a lot more lately and am working on my Woolgatherings 50/25/25 merino/bamboo/silk.

What have you been working on this week? I'd love for you to share in the comments!

Where Have I Been, and What have I Been Doing?

So Blogger says that the last time I published anything was on May 29, 2015. Therefore, it's been a year, 4 months, and one day. A lot can happen, and has, in this amount of time. I had just started working at Sonic around the time I last posted, and I am no longer working there. It is a Blessing, let me tell you. I have been able to stay up late reading, well, I've gotten to read period. I've knit SO much more, and I really enjoy being able to work at my own schedule.

Knitting, let's talk. I do believe that the last thing that I had talked about on here was the black Featherweight, which has been finished for what seems like forever. it was knit in In the Loop yarn
(some yarn that my mom picked up at our Dollar General and honestly, wasn't/isn't awful to work with and wear) and I wear it pretty regularly.
Socks are a staple in my knitting "schedule." They make great purse projects and my mom loves her handknit socks. Lucky for her, it's officially the season for wearing them.

I have knit a few (five or six) pairs for myself, but I'm still not sure how I feel about wearing handknit socks... I swear I can feel the stitches on the bottom of my feet.

FO Friday

This week, I finished the last of the three pair of socks for my barter partner. They're in the orange blue brown variegated handspun and were knit on size 1(2.25mm)

I also finished a skein of the Joyful Sheep "Zebra" but it's in the 'wash' right now, so that photo will have to wait! For now, check out Tami's Amis for more FO Friday posts!

WIP Wednesday

Hello everyone, I know I've been gone for a VERY long time, but I will be getting back into blogging!! I have been working on some book review posts mainly, but decided to post a WIPW post!

Knitting

I've been knitting on another pair of barter socks, which I'm almost done with, in the orange, blue, brown variegated handspun on size US 1(2.25mm) needles. I've decided cuff down is just my cup-of-tea.

I've also cast on a Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fettig in Lost City Knits Oak Barn Merino Lace "Cocksure" on size US 6(4mm) needles. I have just enough yarn for this project, hopefully I make it to the end. The project isn't really holding my attention, since it's all just stockinette, but I really want the finished cardigan, so I'm going to power through. I'm knitting this for the Classic Must Knits KAL with Molly of the A Homespun House Podcast and Kristen of the YarnGasm podcast, and the A Night Bird Cardigan KAL with Clare of A Night Bird Podcast.

I've also been knitting on another pair of socks for my mom, they're in Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock "Tourmaline" on size US 1(2.25mm) needles. I really, really love this sock yarn.

Spinning

I've been spinning up the gray Merino fiber too, I finished part of it today. It's going to stay as a single (cobweb-lace weight) and fulled. Before fulling/washing the skein was 341 yards, hopefully it's at least 300 yards when it's dry.

Reading

I've started reading Allegiant by Veronica Roth, but I'm only on page 40 so far. I'll let you know how I'm liking it when I get farther in.

That's all I have for this week, I'll try to get a book review post out this weekend! I'll try to post more often! Check out Tami's Amis for more WIPW posts.

FO Friday

I'm writing this post on Wednesday, but you won't see it until Friday. This week, I finished my the Joyful Sheep "Superhero" at 449 yards, 2 ply, the grist came out to be about a sport weight, but at 1,796 yards per pound, I would call it more of a heavy fingering weight.

I also finished my mom's Socks on a Plane in Knit Picks Stroll "Cobblestone Heather" on size 1(2.25mm) needles.

As of Sunday, I won't be on the blog for at least a week, I'll be in the Caribbean on a cruise boat :) I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to post when I get back!

WIP Wednesday

This week has been focused on trying to finish wips. Which means that I'll have some things to post for FO Friday! First up, Socks on a Plane by Laura Linneman in Knit Picks Stroll "Cobblestone Heather" on size 1(2.25mm) needles. I finished the first sock last week, and I'm almost done with the second.

The only other thing I'm working on right now is my the Joyful Sheep "Superhero"

Teaming up with Tami's Amis this week, check out her blog for more WIP Wednesday posts!

WIP Wednesday

This week has been dedicated to mainly gift knitting! I'm knitting some Socks on a Plane in Knit Picks Stroll "Cobblestone Heather" on size 1(2.25mm) needles for my Mom for Mother's Day. If course, she may not get them on Mother's day, but they are her mother's day gift. I turned the heel on Monday!

Also, I cast on a Honey Cowl as a gift :) I'm knitting it in Caron Simply Soft "Gray Heather" on size 8 needles. The pattern is so quick and easy, it's great mindless knitting!

I'm also doing some behind the scenes knitting, but I can't share it just yet! But I have been spinning some! Not nearly as much as last week, but still, I've been spinning! I'm spinning the Joyful Sheep "Superhero" on my drop spindle. I still have quite a bit of fiber to go, so I don't see it being done too soon.

FO Friday

This week,I have been on a huge spinning kick! I finished the last chunk of my Nurturing Fibres "Seashell", which was my Ravellenics projects. The top skein is 93 yards, the middle is 82 yards. I finished the bottom skein this week, which came out to be 88 yards, n-ply, and my grist (yards per pound) came out to be a DK weight.

I also finished the last 2 oz of my FiberQuirks "Blueberry Pie and Coffee" (Bottom 2 skeins) for the Stitched-Together SAL. I got a total of 369 yards, the top skein is 177 yards, the middle skein is 152 yards and the bottom skein is 40 yards. They were all 2 ply, from a plying ball and my grist (yards per pound) came out to be a sport weight.

That's all I have for FO Friday this week! I'll hopefully have more for you next week! Check out Tami's Amis blog for more FO Friday posts!

WIP Wednesday

The blog's been kind of quiet lately, but here's a WIP Wednesday post for you!

I've been working mainly on 2 projects, but I finished one, so I cast on a new project! I cast on a new pair of socks today for a barter! I'm not sure what the fiber content is, but I am loving how it's working up!

basic vanilla socks, unknown yarn (handspun) on size 1(2.25mm) needles

I've also been working on my Hana Hou out of my handspun for my group's Mel Ski March-April KAL! This is the left front, and I'm almost done! I started spinning the second braid too!

Hana Hou by Mel Ski in my handspun on size 6 needles

The Joyful Sheep "Zebra"
This is all I'm currently working on, but I'll be sure to come back on Friday to show you my FOs! For more WIPW posts, check out Tami's Amis blog!

WIP Wednesday

First of all, I have been working on the two at a time, toe up, magic loop socks. Mostly because they're easy to pick up and put down, so I can do different things (like schoolwork) and still get some knitting time in. This project turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be! I will definitely be doing two at a time from now on!

Mirasol yarn "812" on size 1(2.25mm) needle
I've also cast on the right front of my Hana Hou for my Mel Ski March-April KAL! (Still plenty of time to join in!) I've knit quite a bit on it, considering I only cast on on Monday! The camera is tilted, oops!

Hana Hou by Mel Ski, The Joyful Sheep "Zebra" Handspun on size 6(4mm) needles needles
I'm participating in the Stitched Together SAL (Spin-a-long) in which you just have to spin 3oz (100g) of fiber to be eligible to win some gorgeous Fondant Fibre Rolags! I'm spinning up some FiberQuirks "Blueberry Pie and Coffee" on my drop spindle. I love, love, love this fiber! The prep is amazing, and it drafts wonderfully! I suggest you go get yourself some! FiberQuirks on Etsy

FiberQuirks "Blueberry Pie and Coffee"
Well, that is all I have in progress this week, but I did finish a book! The Help by Kathryn Stockett, so be watching for another book review soon! For WIP Wednesday though, head on over to Tami's Amis blog to get more fibery goodness!

WIP Wednesday

This week, I've been bouncing from project to project. Knitting some on this, some on that, throwing in some spinning here and there, but what I git the most work on was the Butting Sweater by Katie Marcus. I'm knitting it in Purl Essence Rainbow Classic "Bright Pink" on size 9 needles. It's turning out super smooshy, which is surprising considering it's a 100% acrylic yarn, but it is! It's very soft and cuddly! I'm looking forward to wearing it!

What you can't see very well in the picture is that I have separated for the sleeves. I only have 32" needles in sizes 000-8US so this sweater is jammed on a Boye 16" interchangeable needle. Granted,I do have a larger cable, but it's occupied by a hibernating wip. This pattern is super simple, and I'm loving it! Just stockinette with a button band and button holes! Great car knitting!

I also swatches for my Hana Hou cardigan the other day! The swatch has even been washed and blocked! Gauge for the pattern was 20st x 28 rows=4", and I got 20st x 30 rows=4", so I'll have to do a wee bit of math for the length. It shouldn't be so hard though! The yarn is handspun, so I already knew I may have to do some math.

So I do shot of barter/trades with a wonderful woman, I knit her socks (mostly) and I get roving or bats in return. I love doing this, because I can get use of both of my crafts pretty much at the same time. This time, I'm knitting 2 pair of socks and 2 earwarmers.  I'm trying a new technique, two at a time, toe up, magic loop, all the same project! It's not as hard as I thought it would be, I actually haven't even tangled the yarn! (Bag is sewn by me, size small)

I've also started one of the earwarmer, the yarn is done thick and think bulky alpaca.

For spinning, I've just been working on my the Joyful Sheep "Zebra" fiber for my Hana Hou.I'm almost done with the first braid!

I got a few stashquisitions this week, two are prizes and the fiber is from the barter.

7 skeins of Louisa Grace Harding

Lost City Knits Oak Barn Merino Lace "Cocksure" colorway 1000 yds

8oz of Shetland wool
That's all I have for this week! I'll be back soon!

Playing Catch Up

So I haven't been writing much, hopefully that'll change. But I have been doing a lot lately! Knitting, Spinning, and even sewing! I worked on mainly a few projects for a while, but now I'm back to my normal self.

Knitting
I cast the Wood Elves Gloves by Christelle Nihoul  on for the Ravellenic Games last month, but I'm still on the first glove. I'm Kind of worried that I won't have enough for the other glove. I'm knitting it in Claudia's Hand Painted Yarns Fingering "Peony" on size 1 needles, and size 2 for the fingers.

I'm also knitting on Buttony Sweater by Katie Marcus using Purl Essence Rainbow Classic "Bright Pink" on size 9 needles. I cast this on early last month. It's just a basic raglan, super simple sweater. It's all bunched up on the needle, but there's really not much to see, I'm just working on the sleeve increases.

I've also finished a few things since I last posted. These are just simple projects that I've knit up using my own mind patterns.

WIP Wednesday, and a Little More

This week is the second week of the Ravellenics/Winter Olympics and I haven't worked on my projects very much at all. I got a custom order that needed to be done so the Ravellenic projects kind of got put on the back burner. But I do have some progress to show compared to last Wednesday.  First up are the Wood Elves Gloves by Christelle Nihoul in Claudia's Hand Painted Yarns Fingering weight "Peony" on size US 1(2.25mm) needles,  the fingers I'm doing on 2's just to make sure they'll fit right. Yes, I know my ball is falling apart, I'll re-ball it when I start glove number 2.

This is the fiber I am spinning for the Ravellenics, it's Nurturing Fibres "Seashell" 100% Falkland. I've already finished 2 skeins, 93 yds and 82 yds, both Navajo Plied. All that is left is the small bit you see here, and hopefully, maybe, probably not, I will finish it by Sunday. We'll see, I really need to work on the custom order.

You've heard me talk about it plenty now, this is the custom order. It's going to be a super long fingerless mitt, just as requested in RHSS "Bikini" to match a scarf. It's being knit on size 5 needles. The picture is kind of blurry because my camera didn't exactly know what to do with all of the colors together, but you can see it in the ball.

This is a new sweater I cast on, Buttony Sweater by Katie Marcus knit in Purl Essence Rainbow Classics "Bright Pink" it's a little pinker in person, but it's not a bright pink like they say it is. It is a bulky weight though, so it's zoom zooming! It's being knit on size 9 needles. I really liked the photos on the pattern page and wanted one for myself, so what better to do with the yarn my brother gave me for Christmas than knit a sweater!

Now for the "and a little more" part, I bought some fabric this past weekend and some coordinating thread to sew some project bags, which I will be selling! Let me know if you'd like one ;) One style will be Pink Zebra with a black bottom half and white interior, the other will be white zebra with a black bottom half and white interior. I will post a picture when I whip one up this weekend!

WIP Wednesday

This week I have been mainly working on my projects for Ravellenics, which consists of the Wood Elves Gloves by Christelle Nouhl and spinning Nurturing Fibres "seashell" I finished or the first skein of my spinning last week, I'll add a picture of it too!

Here it is in the braid, it was a gift.

Here is my progress from yesterday. All that is on the spindle was spun yesterday.

And here is the skein I finished last week, 93yd of a Navajo ply (to keep the colors together)

This is yesterday's progress on the Wood Elves Gloves in Claudia' s Hand Paints "Peony" on size US1 needles

I also called up some yarn for a Honey Cowl. It's Caron Simply Soft "Gray Heather"
