I'm So Happy!

So, last night, guess what I got? A sewing machine! It's a Singer Simple 23 stitch 2263, and I love it! I played around with it some last night, wound bobbins with thread (1 black and 1 white), tried out stitches, and practiced straight lines. I sewed up some of the holes in my boyfriend's shirts while I was at it too. I can't wait until I get some zippers and interfacing, and probably some new fabric too, that way I can start making project bags! I have memorized how to make them by watching YouTube videos, and just want to make one already!

For Tour de Fleece, I am almost done with the Shetland wool, and it will be plied soon! Next in line is "Queen Mermaid!"

Episode 3 is up on my Podcast Blog! Go check it out!

WIP Wednesday

There are 3 WIPs this week, 2 small, and one large project. First is another pair of baby socks in RHSS Baby Yarn in the colorway "Confetti Color" on size 4 needles. I am working on the heel flap right now, which you can't see because it is on the back needle.

FO Friday

Today, I am exited to tell you, I have 3, yes 3, finished objects! They are my first attempts at knitting socks! 2 Baby pairs, (Left) knit on size 4 DPN, Juniper Moon Farm's Moonshine in "Cotton Candy" (Right) Knit on size 4 DPN, Red Heart Baby Yarn in "Confetti Color"

The third pair, is a pair for me. Knit on size 4 DPN, in Juniper Moon Farm's Moonshine in "Cotton Candy." The color is a bit off, if you can't tell. Also, they're not blocked. As you can see by the rolling at the top.

Be watching for Episode 2 of my podcast, "All in One" tomorrow! Don't forget to check out Tami's Amis blog, the link is in the sidebar. ->

WIP Wednesday

I have one active WIP this week and one that I will be working on later tonight, so basically two works in progress. First is some socks, my first adult size pair, you'll see the baby pair on Friday. ;) These are stockinette anklets. I don't like long socks at all... I used Judy's Magic Cast On, Fleegle Heel, and a K2TogTBL bind off. These are on DPN, only 3 though. Instep needle, heel flap needle, and spare. They are 40 st around and the heel flap gets increased from 20 st to 38. They are on size 4 DPN, then yarn is Juniper Moon Farm's "Moonshine" in the colorway 0010 "Cotton Candy." I am loving knitting socks, fast and easy!

Here is my project page.

My other WIP is the off shoulder pullover, but so far it's just stockinette with increases, not that interesting, so I won't bother posting a picture until I start the armhole shaping.

Head on over to Tami Ami's for more WIP posts. Link in sidebar ->

Better Late Than Never

This is basically my FO Friday post for this week. I finished my Leaf Evolution Shawl! The tree didn't want to cooperate so the left half is kind of collapsing. I used SweetGeorgia tough love sock in "Tourmaline" on size 7 needles. It just finished blocking about 5 minutes ago and I rushed outside to take this picture. :)

   A close up...

So thankful that this shawl is done! I think I am going to work on simpler projects for now. Don't get me wrong, the lace is beautiful, but this was a lot of tinking back, starting over, looking up how to do things on YouTube, etc. I am going to work on the Pullover and the baby socks I just started now. The pattern for the socks I am using is A Toe-Up Pattern to Fit Any Foot, on Two Circulars, I am doing them on 3 DPN instead. Using one for the bottom and one for the top, and of course my spare. It's just a simple toe-up, stockinette sock, with a fleegle heel. I'm estimating a baby's foot size using these size charts.

WIP Wednesday

My most active WIPs this week are my Leaf Evolution Mystery KAL (trying to finish it by friday) and my spinning. Today, I finished clue #4. I am using size 7 needles, and SweetGeorgia Tough Love Sock in "Tourmaline." I started on clue #5 earlier this afternoon.

Here is a close up.

The spinning is still the Shetland wool, this is give or take 160 yds of singles. I am working on another set of singles now. I wrapped it around a leg of my niddy noddy so that I don't loose it and so that I can use my spindle. I am hoping for a 2-3 ply fingering weight.

Watch for the second episode of my Podcast on Saturday! I will record either Friday afternoon or Saturday afternoon. In the meantime, go check out all the other WIPW posts at Tami Ami's!! -->

Finish that Shawl...

Working on my Leaf Evolution MKAL right now, powering through to get finished by Friday. I am going to work on it until I work up the courage to untangle the rest of the skein. When I first got the skein, I didn't unwind it properly, so it became a mess, here's a picture. It took me a week, more or less, but I unwound what I could into a ball and put the rest in a zipper bag in timeout. Now, I am trying to work up the energy to untangle the rest of it to finish the shawl. Not looking forward to it at all.

Full Steam Ahead

This week I have to power through my Leaf Evolution Mystery Shawl. I accidentally added and extra repeat which threw my stitch count off by about 12 st which is a lot when you need it to be perfect. By the time I realized it, I had already knit 4 rows and 3 purl-back rows. So, I spent my Saturday night tinking back to where I was supposed to be. As of today, I have finished the 3rd clue and am moving on to the 4th. I am farther behind than others, but I am quickly catching up! I can't wait to see the final object!

FO Friday

I have 2 FOs this week, First is the Garden View Shawlette, a project I should have finished mid-May, but ran out of yarn. But, better late than never right? Thanks to my amazing boyfriend for modeling it ;) It turned out great! Garden View Shawlette by Tracey Withanee  in the colorway Pam by BrazenStitchery-worsted weight. 7 leaves, 52" wide, 11" deep at the center.

WIP Wednesday

Three WIPs this week, they're all knitting up really quick. First is the Leaf Evolution Mystery KAL by Tetiana Otruta. Knit Bottom up, (Thankfully!) on size 7 needles, in Sweet Georgia "Tourmaline." I finally finished the 14 repeats and have moved on to the 3rd clue. Well kinda... I got a little sidetracked by the next two WIPs. :)

A Picture-less Post

This week, I am knitting like crazy, I have no idea why either. I think it's because I've been catching up on the Stockinette Zombies podcast, and when I watch it I feel an obligation to knit. Yesterday I watched 4 episodes/4 hours and got a ton of knitting done on the Off-the-Shoulder Pullover for Miracle. I'm to the increases that make the sweater flouncy, then after I do the shaping, It'll go back to the 1x1 rib that I so despise. Ribbing to me is the least fun part of knitting. This being my first garment and having to start with 8 inches of 1x1 ribbing, I'm hoping that not all garments have to have ribbing. Even the 2x2 ribbing in the beanies that I knit wasn't fun. Luckily, the pullover is mostly stockinette.
Also, the Leaf Evolution Mystery KAL is almost over and I am 12 rows/2 repeats from being finished with the 2nd clue. Thankfully, the rest of the shawl clues don't have to be repeated. The last clue comes out next week, so I hopefully will finish the 5th clue by next then. Actually, I HAVE to finish it. I can't wait to see the finished object! It's going to be beautimus!

Well, until tomorrow, (WIP Wednesday) where I will show you pictures of these beauties.
